OPTICAL MEMS SWITCHES
Sercalo manufactures optical MEMS switches with low insertion loss (IL) and up to 1x64 ports. The optical MEMS switches are proposed in single mode, multimode or PM fiber, at wavelengths from 600 μm up to 1600 μm, as latching or non-latching optical switch. Based on the highly reliable and proven Sercalo optical MEMS design, Sercalo offers fiber optic switch configurations with port counts of up to 16 inputs and 16 outputs.
The extremely high reliability of Sercalo optical MEMS switches meets the requirements of the most demanding applications in Telecom, Datacom, Sensor Networks, Instruments, Test and Measurement.

About our optical MEMS switches
Our optical MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) switches are devices that use microscopic mirrors or other movable structures to direct light beams. They are used in a variety of applications, including telecommunications, data centers, and medical imaging.
How MEMS Optical Switches Work
Our MEMS optical switches work by using tiny mirrors or other movable structures to redirect light beams. These mirrors are typically made of silicon or other semiconductor materials and are actuated by electrostatic forces. The mirrors can be moved very quickly and precisely, which allows the switches to be used to switch light beams on and off very quickly.
Advantages of MEMS Optical Switches
Our MEMS optical switches have several advantages over traditional optical switches, such as:
- Smallest size on the market: our MEMS optical switches are very small, which makes them ideal for use in dense applications such as telecommunications equipment.
- Low power consumption: our MEMS optical switches consume very little power, which makes them ideal for use in battery-powered devices.
- Fastest switching speed on the market: our MEMS optical switches can switch light beams on and off very quickly, which makes them ideal for use in high-speed applications.
- Low cost: our MEMS optical switches are relatively inexpensive to manufacture, which makes them a cost-effective solution for a variety of applications.
Applications of MEMS Optical Switches
Our MEMS optical switches are used in a variety of applications, including:
- Telecommunications: our MEMS optical switches are used in telecommunications networks to route light beams to different destinations.
- Data centers: our MEMS optical switches are used in data centers to connect servers and other network equipment.
- Aerospace: our MEMS optical switches are used in aerospace applications.
