Sercalo Microtechnolgy was founded in 1999. The company has the ambition of producing high quality and top performance MOEMS (Micro-Opto- Electro-Mechanical Systems) components. The management and Engineering team counts with more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the MEMS and fiber optical components area. Their skills span all the process of manufacture: MEMS chip design, fabrication and marketing.
Sercalo has a wide variety of products in the market: a diversity of fiber optical MEM switches for single mode, multi mode as well as specialty fibers for visible and polarisation maintaing fibers. MEMS based variable optical attenators and MEMS TUNABLE OPTICAL FILTERS are new fiber optic components. Sercalo produces also more general MEMS components such as 3D MEMS Micro-mirrors and miniature LASER BEAM SCANNERS.
Finally Sercalo builds custom fiber optical systems integrating its own components with other optical functions and “plug and play” interfaces for meeting customer defined testing needs.
Sercalo products are leading the market of fiber optical components because of their:
• Wide wavelength range covering the full range o f the used fibers
• Solid state like repeatability
• No wear out
Studied microtechnology at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne. In 1994 he joined the group of Prof. de Rooij at the University of Neuchâtel where he got his Ph.D. in 1997. In 1999 he founded Sercalo Microtechnology ltd. with the goal of bringing the MEMS developments from Academia to Industry. Cornel Marxer is General Manager of Sercalo and is leading the Sercalo Site in Neuchatel / Switzerland.
has a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1982 he joined the University of Innsbruck / Austria, where he made a degree in Business Administration and obtained his Ph.D. Degree in 1989 from this University. During 1987 – 1995 Donat worked for Hilti Inc. at different management positions in USA and Asia. Since 1995 he is an independent entrepreneur in Liechtenstein. In 1999 he co-founded Sercalo with his brother Cornel. He is in charge of contractual and financial activities. He is leading the Sercalo site in Schaan / Liechtenstein.
has a degree in mechanical engineering which he completed by studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Vienna. Where he got his M.Sc. Degree in 2003. During the years between his 2 studies Peter worked at various engineering positions in Austria and San José / USA. In 2003 he worked for the “Projection Focused Ion Beam”, a novel lithography tool. In 2004 Peter joined Sercalo where he works on a broad range of new MEMS components and assemblies for industrial, communication and aero-space applications.
